IPA has partnered with Peru’s government on co-creating evidence since 2010. In 2016, IPA and J-PAL partnered with Peru’s Ministry of Education to launch MineduLab, an innovation lab for education policy housed within the ministry.
Since MineduLAB’s founding, the lab has found promising results for two education policies that are now on the path to scale: one that improves school maintenance with text message alerts, and another that disseminates accurate information about the returns to education to lower school dropout and child labor rates.
After the success of MineduLab, IPA partnered with J-PAL and the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion in 2018 to launch another evidence lab using the same model called AyniLab, and IPA is also collaborating on research with other government decision-makers including the Ministry of Women & Vulnerable Populations and the Superintendency of Banking, Insurance and AFP.
