Latin America is facing trying times.Economies across the region have witnessed an unprecedented increase in unemployment and the incidence of poverty, and gender disparities have widened.The design and implementation of social programs and policies to mitigate the impacts of the pandemic have been at the core of the public policy and academic debates in recent months.

On October 14, IPA Philippines hosted a policy dialogue session about Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) with the Department of Education (DepEd).This event brought together key officials and staff from DepEd and IPA researchers and partners to present evidence, share lessons learned, and generate insights on how DepEd can integrate TaRL into its existing structures. Devyani Pershad (Head of International Collaborations, Pratham) discussed the TaRL approach pioneered by Pratham and rigorous evidence on the various TaRL models implemented globally.

IPA Peru co-hosted the virtual conference "Supporting Human Talent in Peru: Impact Evaluation, Public Policy and Professional Development opportunities at IPA." The conference is part of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion actions that IPA Peru is undertaking to promote a more diverse staff.The goal is to contribute to reducing the information gaps between universities around the country, especially those from less privileged backgrounds.During the event, IPA Peru's work was discussed along with the skills that students need to invest in to be eligible for IPA and related organization positions.
