The Microcredit Summit Campaign and the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc., together with the sponsorship of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, hosted a Microcredit Summit in Manila on October 9-11, 2013 focused on the theme Partnerships against Poverty: Government, Business, Finance and Civil Society.The summit brought together government activities, financial and social services and providers, and other businesses to help catalyze the next great wave of movement out of severe poverty.

On September 26, 2013, DAI, Development Gateway, FHI 360, IREX, and USAID hosted a conference on the impact of mobiles in development.The one-day event featured thought leaders and decision makers in using mobile technologies to increase development impact.

On September 19 - 20, 2013, the Center for Effective Global Action (CEGA) at the University of California - Berkeley, hosted an event in the San Francisco Bay Area on mobile banking.The aims of the event were to inject fresh thinking into mobile banking, and to connect firms targeting low-income clients with sector leaders working in established markets.The event also introduced MNOs and banks to academic engineers and economists, to facilitate the development of new technical solutions and delivery strategies.
