Thank you for your interest in accessing the data from the Philippines Socioeconomic Panel Survey (PSPS). If you were forwarded this link from a colleague and have not yet filled out our short “PSPS Data Use Survey” Google Form, please complete the form so we can better understand how researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and others are using this data and collect feedback on how to make this data as accessible and useful as possible.
If you have any questions not answered here or on the PSPS website linked above, please reach out to the PSPS team at psps@poverty-action.org.
PSPS Data User Guide
The PSPS Data User Guide provides an overview of the PSPS, data cleaning notes, a codebook, and other information and guidance for users, including guidance on applying the survey weights. This is a living document that will be continually updated and improved as we release more data and collect feedback from users over time.
PSPS Datasets
Survey weights are included in the survey folders for individual and household surveys; given the random sampling at the barangay level there are no survey weights in the barangay captain survey. Due to the complex sampling strategy adopted in the PSPS, please refer to the User Guide on using PSPS survey weights before applying weights for your analysis. A codebook is included in each of the survey folders.
Household Survey
14 household datasets from the PSPS Household Survey are available at the following link. Each folder corresponds to one topic in the Household Survey and contains the same dataset in both .dta and .csv formats.
Individual Survey
12 datasets from the PSPS Individual Survey are available at the following link. Each folder corresponds to one module in the Individual Survey and contains the same dataset in both .dta and .csv formats.
Barangay Survey
14 datasets from the PSPS Barangay Captain Survey are available at the following link. Each folder, except for “1_barangay_level_vars” corresponds to one module in the Barangay Captain Survey and contains one barangay-level dataset and one amenity-level dataset (where applicable) in both .dta and .csv formats. Please see “Readme” for further elaboration on the barangay-level and amenity-level datasets.
