Alexander Fertig

Alexander Fertig is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of New Mexico, specializing in the fields of development economics, political economy, and labor economics. In his current work, he studies the effects of internet access on political conflict, and whether these effects can help or harm resistance movements. He also works on topics related to international migration, women's economic empowerment, and the long-run impacts of reparations. Alexander received his Ph.D. in Public Policy & Economics from the University of Michigan in 2026, an MPA from Columbia University in 2016, and a B.A. from Wesleyan University in 2010.
