Nathan Barker is a PhD Candidate in Economics at Yale University. He studies development, public, and labor economics, with a focus on how individuals in sub-Saharan Africa respond to urbanization and non-farm opportunities, and on the design of social protection programs in low-income countries. He previously worked at IPA as a Research Coordinator, in Tamale, Ghana, on projects related to hybrid maize adoption and the link between mental health and economic productivity, and as a Research Analyst in New Haven, Connecticut.
