Most of the world’s people in extreme poverty live in fragile states, yet rigorous evidence on how to build peace and stability in conflict- and crisis-affected contexts is still limited. UK International Development is supporting Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), alongside our partners at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), to build the evidence base on topics central to good governance, crime prevention, peacebuilding, and recovery from conflict and crises through the Governance, Crime, and Conflict Initiative (GCCI).

Under the GCCI, IPA manages the Peace & Recovery Initiative, a competitive research fund that aims to improve outcomes for conflict- and crisis-affected populations by building the evidence base on reducing violence and fragility, promoting peace, building social cohesion, and preventing, managing, and recovering from crises. Ultimately, research supported by the initiative will contribute to the design of better policies and programs that contribute to stability and resilience in fragile and violence-affected states.
