IPA Zambia Hosts Presentation and Panel Discussion on Contraceptives Uptake among Young Women in Zambia
On May 13, 2025, IPA Zambia hosted a dissemination event at the Urban Hotel in Lusaka featuring a presentation and panel discussion on contraceptive uptake and beliefs among young Zambian women. The event brought together representatives from Copper Rose Zambia, International Growth Centre (IGC), Forum for African Women Educationalists of Zambia (FAWEZA), Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), CARE, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Coalition Health Zambia, and Population Council.
Dr. Bryce Steinberg (Brown University) presented findings from a randomized evaluation studying infertility fears and contraceptives uptake among female undergraduate students at the University of Zambia (UNZA). The study was implemented by IPA Zambia in partnership with UNZA.
Following the presentation, Dr. Steinberg joined Ms. Nachela Chelwa (Population Council), Ms. Kangwa Kasonde (Adolescent Health Specialist), and Prof. Jacob Malungo (NIPA) for a panel discussion on strengthening youth-centered sexual and reproductive health services. Panelists and attendees emphasized the importance of timely sexual health education, youth-friendly providers, and accessible services to support effective programs for young women in Zambia. The discussion was moderated by Mwamba Kapambwe, Associate Embedded Labs Manager for IPA Zambia.
