IPA Presents on Scaling Early Childhood Development Programs at Thrive Scientific Conference 2025
From June 24-25, 2025, IPA staff presented at the Thrive Scientific Conference 2025. This two-day conference brought together education experts to discuss scaling early childhood development programs and policies in low- and middle-income countries.
Sarah Kabay, Director of IPA's Education sector program, presented on a maternal well-being program in refugee and host communities in Uganda and a program in the Philippines supporting parents to play flashcard games teaching math and phonics to boost early childhood learning.
Oscar Pineda, Policy Manager for IPA Colombia, presented the findings from Apapacho, a developmental violence prevention parenting program rooted in a strong research-policy partnership between IPA Colombia, Fundación Apapacho, and Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar (ICBF). Evaluation results suggest that Apapacho has the strong potential to transform caregiving practices through low-cost interventions that can be scaled. Learn more about the evaluation here.
