On April 12, IPA Philippines and the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) jointly organized the Policy Forum on Peace and Recovery: Select Evidence from Around the World at the NDCP Honor Hall at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo in Quezon City.

Following opening remarks by IPA Philippines Country Director Nassreena Sampaco-Baddiri, Sebastian Chaskel, Director of IPA’s Peace and Recovery Program; and Cillian Nolan, Policy Manager for J-PAL’s Crime, Violence and Conflict Sector; presented evidence from studies conducted around the world in the Peace and Recovery space. They discussed randomized evaluations tackling complex issues, including hotspot policing in Colombia, community-based reconciliation in Sierra Leone, and a program on insurgent influences in the Philippines. There were also presentations by Atty. Bong Montesa from the United Nations Development Programme’s Resilience and Peacebuilding programme and Romina Sta. Clara from the International Organization for Migration’s Peace and Development Office. All presentations were followed by open forum Q&As and discussions. NDCP President, Rear Admiral Roberto Q. Estioko, provided the closing remarks.

The policy forum was attended by 62 participants of government officials, state security personnel, academics, and civil society actors.
