IPA Peru Co-Hosts Event on Gender Violence and Impact Evaluation
On October 25, IPA and J-PAL co-hosted a dissemination event titled "Gender Violence and Impact Evaluation: Translating Evidence to Public Policy” in Lima, Peru. During the event, Sergio De Marco, Deputy Director of the Regional Office of IPA for Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay, presented on interventions to prevent Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and IPA’s IPV Initiative. Afterward, representatives from Peru’s Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP) discussed the importance of evidence to inform the design of policies aimed to reduce gender-based violence (GBV). The third presentation focused on “Leaders in Action” (LIA), a four-month training program for community leaders leading a series of five training sessions in their communities to increase awareness and identification of GBV in their villages, including door-to-door visits. Úrsula Aldana, principal researcher of the LIA program, discussed the details of the evaluation design, outcomes to be evaluated, techniques used to measure GBV, and how the evaluation results could inform the policy implemented by the MIMP.
