On July 3, IPA and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) co-hosted a workshop on digital finance and financial inclusion in Yangon, Myanmar.IPA Founder Dean Karlan kicked off the event with a keynote presentation followed by two panels. In the first panel, Gonzalo González, CEO of DAWN Microfinance, and Rebecca Rouse, Director of IPA's Financial Inclusion program, discussed digital finance and financial inclusion in and beyond Myanmar.

On June 27, Making Finance Work for Africa, IPA, 3ie, PlaNet Guarantee, the University of Kent, and Oklahoma State University presented a webinar on "Enhancing Access to Index-Based Weather Insurance: A New Marketing Approach in Burkina Faso."  Of the billion people worldwide living on less than US $1 per day, known as the poverty line, nearly 75 percent depend on agriculture for their livelihoods.

On June 26 in Nairobi and June 28 in Kisumu, IPA Kenya and the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) disseminated results from an evaluation of the benefits of water quality, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions on maternal and child health.The study tested the impact of low cost hand washing, water treatment, sanitation and nutrition interventions on the health of children during the first two years of life in the rural Vihiga, Kakamega, and Bungoma counties of Kenya.
