IPA, in partnership with the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) held a public webinar on July 27, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM via Zoom.

The event featured two studies. The first study describes the three education subsectors in the Philippines (basic education, higher education, and technical and vocational education and training), looking at their current state and challenges and offering recommendations moving forward. It was presented by PIDS President Aniceto Orbeta Jr.

The second study features mEducation, which analyzed the use of mobile phone-based instruction to over 3,400 households with children in grades 3 and 4 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to improve learning outcomes. It was conducted by IPA, Youth Impact, and the Department of Education in 2021 to 2022. This study was presented by the study coauthor and Youth Impact co-founder Noam Angrist.
