Emerging Evidence: Strategies to Limit Harm Caused by Landmines
A landmine does not know when a war is over. Long after ceasefires are signed and troops withdraw, landmines and explosive remnants of war continue to kill and injure civilians, force families from their land, and block communities from rebuilding. In some of the world's most fragile settings, they remain a daily, invisible threat.
Ahead of International Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action Day (April 4), IPA and J-PAL's Humanitarian Protection Initiative, with generous support from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), hosted a webinar on April 1, 2026 from 10:30-11:30am ET. The webinar shared emerging evidence on strategies to limit harm caused by landmines, bringing together research and insights on what works to protect conflict-affected communities. This evidence can inform practitioners, policymakers, and researchers working at the intersection of humanitarian protection and mine action.
