Women often face significant and unique challenges when trying to access capital. These challenges include social and cultural barriers, lack of collateral, and insufficient credit history, making it harder for them to secure formal loans compared to men. To better meet their needs, it’s crucial to identify the most effective credit options and financial products for women entrepreneurs. But where do gaps persist, and what areas of research still need more exploration? IPA reviewed over 20 studies on financial innovations that provide valuable insights into what works—and where more research is needed—to empower women in their entrepreneurial journey.
