Ugandan news outlet Monitor covers the progress of the PlayMatters initiative in honor of the United Nations' International Day of Play. The initiative aims to promote soft skills and the overall wellbeing well-being of refugee and host community children.

PlayMatters, launched in 2020, is funded by the LEGO Foundation and implemented by a consortium led by the International Rescue Committee, in partnership with Plan International, War Child Holland, the Behavioural Insights Team, and Innovations for Poverty Action and operates in Uganda, Ethiopia, and Tanzania.
