Yasuyuki Sawada is currently a professor at the University of Tokyo’s Faculty of Economics. From March 2017-August 2021, he was Chief Economist of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Director General of its Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department. He was ADB’s chief spokesperson on economic and development trends and led the production of ADB’s flagship knowledge products and support for regional cooperation fora.
