In October of 2013, he was hired as an Assistant Professor of Sustainability Sciences at the Daniel B. Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources, University of Georgia. Dr. Dwivedi's work there focuses on use of solid biomass for domestic energy needs in developing countries; timber markets in general, and wood-based bioenergy markets, in particular; forest-based ecosystem services, and minority forestland owners in the United States.

Puneet has published his work in Agricultural Systems, BioEnergy Research, Ecological Economics, Energy Policy, Environmental Research Letters, Forest Policy and Economics, Global Change Biology Bioenergy, Journal of Sustainable Forestry, PloS ONE, Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences, and Small-scale Forestry. After finishing his doctoral research work at the School of Forest Resources & Conservation, University of Florida in 2010 in the area of forest policy and economics, he joined Yale University as an YCEI postdoctoral research fellow.
