PhD Candidate, Political Science
Stanford University
Mae MacDonald is pursuing a PhD in political science at Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences. She graduated from the University of Oxford with a double first-class bachelor's degree in philosophy, politics and economics. Mae aspires to reduce international conflict by deepening our understanding of the psychology of policymakers, combatants and civilians. After graduating, Mae analyzed public opinion for the UK government, NGOs and the media as a researcher at YouGov, where she also co-led the company's diversity network. She became interested in the biological foundations of human behavior whilst working at OSI, a £600 million venture capital fund that invests in ground-breaking science and technology start-ups commercializing Oxford-based research. Mae has written for the LSE on women's poverty, volunteered internationally with refugees and underrepresented entrepreneurs, and interned in the Houses of Parliament. She was a Crankstart Scholar and E. T. Warner Prize recipient.
