Harue Kitajima is a Chief Advisor/JICA Expert of the JICA’s technical cooperation project, “Market-oriented Smallholder Horticulture Empowerment and Promotion Project (MA-SHEP),” in Malawi. Prior to her time in Malawi, she was engaged in JICA’s technical cooperation projects in Kenya for 6 years from 2009 to 2015 as a JICA Expert in charge of Horticulture Production and Extension. Since 2015, she has been enrolled in the PhD Programme in the Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies (GSAPS) of Waseda University, majoring in development economics/agricultural economics. She has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science from Tokyo University of Agriculture and a Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in International Agriculture and Rural Development from Cornell University.
