Eldar Shafir is a Scientific Director at ideas42. He is the William Stewart Tod Professor of Psychology and Public Affairs at Princeton University, and has served as a member of President Barack Obama's Advisory Council on Financial Capability. He studies decision-making and judgment, and his recent work has focused on behavioral economic analyses of decision-making in the context of poverty and, more generally, on the application of behavioral research to policy.
He recently edited a volume on "The Behavioral Foundations of Policy," and has just co-authored a book with Sendhil Mullainathan called "Scarcity: Why Having Too Little Means So Much", which looks at how scarcity, and our flawed responses to it, can shape our lives, our society, and our culture.
