Elana Safran manages strategic projects for the East Africa region, and works with country program management on all aspects of country program operations. Globally, she coordinates IPA's existing research and new project opportunities in the health sector. Since joining IPA in 2007, she has been Acting Country Director in Zambia, coordinator for an evaluation of private healthcare delivery in Ghana and Kenya, Research Manager for Dean Karlan, and Research Associate in Ghana. She has also lived and worked in Cambodia, Tanzania, Bangladesh, and Israel. Elana has an MPP from Harvard Kennedy School, and a BA in Economics from Amherst College.
