Diego Ubfal is an Economist at the Africa Region Gender Innovation Lab of the World Bank. His research interests include entrepreneurship with focus on business training, soft-skills development, networks and innovation; human capital formation and the transition from school to work; financial access, and attitudes towards minorities.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Buenos Aires, a Master's degree from the University of San Andrés, and a PhD from the University of California, Los Angeles. He was previously a Fulbright scholar and taught courses on Impact Evaluation and Development Economics at Bocconi University and Columbia University.
