​David Atkin is the Barton L. Weller (1940) Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at MIT as well as a Research Associate at the NBER, a Research Fellow at the CEPR, a Board Member of BREAD and the co-chair of the J-PAL Firm’s Sector. His research focuses on questions related to firms, consumption and trade in developing countries. His recent work has studied the impact of exporting on small firms in Egypt, barriers to technology adoption in Pakistan, the effects of global retailers on welfare in Mexico, and methods to estimate income-group-specific price indices in the absence of complete price information.
