Daniel Velez Lopez is a Vicki Norberg-Bohm Fellow and a doctoral candidate in the Public Policy Program at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. He is interested in environmental and natural resource economics, public finance, and development economics.
In particular, he is interested in how taxes and subsidies in developing countries can have perverse effects on the environment, how social policy and environmental policy interact in the developing country setting, and individuals' perceptions and responses to environmental risks. Before coming to Harvard, Daniel studied economics and mathematics at the University of Maryland - College Park and worked at Resources for the Future.
