Carolina González-Velosa is a Senior Specialist in the Social Protection, Labor Markets Division at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Her areas of expertise include employment, skills training for work, pensions, and social security. At the IDB, Carolina has been involved in research projects as well as the design and implementation of interventions in Colombia, Panama, Peru, and Trinidad and Tobago. Her work has been published in academic journals and flagship IDB publications. Before joining the IDB, Carolina worked for the Government of Colombia on fiscal and macroeconomic analysis issues. She also taught at universities in both Colombia and the United States. She holds a degree in Economics from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Maryland.
