Bet's research background covers programme evaluation, understanding the role of social networks in the targeting effectiveness of community-based development initiatives, addressing methodological problems related to the measurement of peer effects and measurement issues more generally. The research projects she is currently involved with include an evaluation of a sanitation intervention in India, where the focus is on elevating liquidity and awareness constraints in the adoption and use of toilets, and an early childhood stimulation project, also in India.  

Bet holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Oxford. Prior to joining the IFS, she worked for one year as Oxfam GB’s Global Impact Evaluation Advisor, where she took the technical lead in Oxfam’s impact evaluation framework.

She also worked for two years as a project manager at the Tanzania based survey company Economic Development Initiatives Ltd.
