Bolivia Nature Foundation was established in 2003 with the aim of helping communities protect their water sources through the conservation of their forests. In 2003, it began its first Reciprocal Environmental Agreements (REA) scheme in the town of Los Negros, municipality of Pampagrande, department of Santa Cruz. In 2013, after a decade of work in communities across Bolivia, we have been able to put more than 83,000 hectares of forest in conservation in 30 municipalities and provide roughly 2,000 families with the necessary resources for productive and environmentally sustainable livelihoods. With an ultimate goal of protecting 2 million hectares of Bolivian forest, we hope to continue on this exciting trajectory.
