Eastern and Southern Africa Centre of International Parasite Control (ESACIPAC) was established in May 2001 with the goal of coordinating activities on school health based parasite control in the Eastern & Southern Africa region under the framework of the Global Parasite Control Initiative. The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) officially inaugurated ESACIPAC as a research and training centre of the institute in 2002 to ensure its sustainability and as a strategy to improve KEMRI’s contribution to capacity building for human health improvement through supporting parasite control activities in the region.
