The Myanmar Development Institute (MDI) is the buzzing hub of economic research in the heart of Myanmar, known as Naypyitaw. MDI was launched through the cabinet notification of the Government of Myanmar to generate high quality ideas and research with the objective of supporting the process of economic reform to consolidate democratic governance in Myanmar. As such, it aims to promote the formation and perpetuation of a vibrant public sphere in which economic ideas and important policy initiatives can be circulated and articulated. Through a flurry of workshops, seminars and courses on economics and economic policy, MDI is committed to strengthening the capacity of the government to analyze, formulate and implement sustainable and inclusive development to support the democratic transition and consolidation in Myanmar.
