Afke is the Program Lead for the Strategic Impact Evaluation and Learning (SIEL) project, which aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of programs and policies for the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO). Afke started in IPA as a Research Associate in 2016, overseeing projects in Uganda. She later served as a Senior Research Associate in Mexico from 2018 to 2019, in collaboration with the World Bank. Following this, she held the roles of Research Manager and then Country Director in Myanmar from 2019 to 2023. Afke holds an MSc in Development Economics from Wageningen University in the Netherlands.
