IPA Uganda Participates in CARE’s Women Digital Sub-Wallets Workshop
From April 10-14, 2017, IPA Uganda participated in CARE’s Women Digital Sub-Wallets workshop. The e-wallet is a new service provided by PostBank, a well-known bank in Uganda which has previously been a branch bank. The e-wallet service allows women to access formal bank accounts through mobile technology and have pre-labeled digital subwallets to categorize their savings, such as school fees and healthcare.
The four-day workshop aimed to share and review findings from the pilot study and forge a way forward to a scale-up of the project. The meeting brought together several partners, including IPA Uganda, CARE Uganda, CARE-USA, PostBank Uganda, the project’s researchers, and CARE’s implementing partners. The meeting culminated in a proposed 22-month workplan, which will (along with research and implementation plans) be presented for review and final approval in May 2017.
