On November 13-14, the US Department of Labor's Bureau of International Affairs (ILAB) held an event on "Impact to Action" to release the results of 14 rigorous evaluations examining what works to combat child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking. The studies looked at varied government and non-government programs, including awareness-raising campaigns, girls' mentoring, scholarship and education programs, cash transfers, and other income and livelihoods supports. 

At the event, Sergio De Marco, Deputy Director of the Regional Office of IPA for Peru, Bolivia and Paraguay, presented on the "Deciding for a Better Future" (DFM) study, an intervention to combat school dropout and child labor and promote secondary and higher education, and its effects on the reduction of school dropout and child labor, among other impacts of high interest for policy design. Dr. Eric Edmonds also presented the results of his and Dr. Caroline Theoharides' evaluation of the Philippines Department of Labor and Employment's livelihood assistance to parents of child laborers.
