IPA Presents on Gender-Based Violence and Food Security in Lesotho
On June 22, IPA presented best practices for measuring gender-based violence (GBV) at the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) symposium for a panel on GBV and food security in Lesotho. Ellen Bates-Jeffreys presented on behalf of IPA in a small research breakout session moderated by Abby Thatcher (Stanford University) and oversight from Celine Mazars (Prevention Collaborative). IPA presented the operational learnings from various studies on measuring GBV and discussed the ethical challenges of measuring GBV, the basics of designing survey questions, survey models, and managing staff in the field. The event was an opportunity for IPA to present to and connect with GBV researchers and discuss together vital lessons learned about navigating rigorous research about sensitive subjects.
