IPA Kenya Participates in 10th Round Table Meeting of Permanent Working Group on TVET in Kenya
IPA Kenya participated in the 10th round table meeting of the Permanent Working Group (PWG) on TVET that was held at the Karen Technical Training Institute for the Deaf (KTTID). Organized under the theme of Inclusion, the meeting brought together key actors in the TVET sector including government, private sector, donors and non-state actors who are also members of the PWG.
The PWG is a multi-stakeholder platform that promotes collaboration and provides guidance on implementation of TVET reforms in Kenya and enables sector stakeholders to network and share ideas and strategies. The PWG provides a platform for exchange between the different stakeholder groups and promotes TVET as a ticket to high-valued career pathways for young people through rebranding and hands on youth engagement.
IPA Kenya is an elected member of the Transitional Executive Committee (TEC) which is responsible for steering the PWG. This committee is tasked with defining the legal status, membership structure to be adopted by the PWG as well as planning of calendar activities that will ensure it transitions to a sustainable organization.
Since its inception in 2014, the PWG has achieved major milestones including signing a historical MoU with the Ministry of Education and key industry players to cooperate on TVET transformation, organizing the first ever Hands on the Future National conference on TVET and Skills Show in January 2017 which has set precedence to other similar events and captured the interest of more players on the TVET subject.
