IPA Hosts Evidence Dissemination and Validation Workshop on Advancing Women’s Access to Credit and Capital in Nigeria
Thursday, November 20, 2025
10:00AM - 1:00PM WAT
Abuja, Nigeria
Investing in women’s economic power is no longer a side goal; it is central to achieving lasting development outcomes. However, despite continued investment, many initiatives still miss the mark by neglecting tested, scalable, and cost-effective solutions. With shifting priorities and limited resources, it is increasingly important that decisions are grounded in solid evidence rather than assumptions, ensuring efforts truly advance women’s access to opportunity and growth.
IPA has synthesized global and Nigeria-specific evidence on rigorous, scalable, and cost-effective approaches that improve women’s access to credit and capital. Insights from countries such as Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, and India highlight innovations including digital savings and credit models, business training with mentorship, social norm engagement, mobile financial tools, and gender-responsive policy reforms.
This workshop will discuss what works, when, and how these can be adapted within Nigeria’s context, bringing together government agencies, financial institutions, development partners, and women’s business networks to:
- Share synthesized insights and lessons from across contexts
- Validate emerging findings from stakeholder consultations
- Identify actionable pathways to integrate evidence into current and future financial inclusion programs in Nigeria
Participants will help shape a more coordinated and evidence-informed agenda for advancing women’s access to finance, while identifying opportunities for collaboration and innovation in this space.
