Abstract

Nigeria confirmed her first SARS-Cov-2 or COVID-19 infected case in Lagos State on 27 February 2020 and from that time, the number of infected people has been rising across the country. To contain the spread of the disease, Nigeria’s government has undertaken several measures ranging from the closure of schools/institutions/markets/religion centers, suspension of relevant national programs, tracing contacts, closure of airports and land borders, and finally a stay-at-home order. While many households depend on the daily income to survive, the role of the lockdown order to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic would affect household daily purchasing power and this may subject many to food, job and home deprivations. Although social palliative measures have been implemented by the government as a relief measure to reduce the hardship on the households, little is known to understand the effect of the lockdown and social relief measures on household food security status. The survey will gather data on socioeconomic, geographical, home status, income groups, social relief measures, health status, relevant livelihood facilities, COVID-19 lockdown perception, and food security status.
