On April 25, the Philippines Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) hosted Dean Karlan for its first in-person and online/hybrid seminar. Dean presented a collection of “Graduation” approach studies focusing on ‘capabilities’ for social protection. Dean discussed how various models of the graduation program with components that aim to increase beneficiaries’ “capabilities” affect outcomes. PIDS President Dr. Aniceto Orbeta, PIDS research fellows, and other researchers from different affiliations were in attendance while IPA Philippines Country Director Nassreena Sampaco-Baddiri gave her closing remarks.
