On September 25, IPA's Executive Director, Annie Duflo, and representatives of BRAC spoke at a high-level UN General Assembly side event. The event was designed to support Brazil's Global Alliance against Hunger and Poverty, a coalition that aims to increase multisectoral support for government-led, evidence-backed approaches that meet people's basic needs and enable them to build long-term trajectories out of poverty. Duflo presented on the impact of cash transfers, multifaceted graduation programs, and other approaches to addressing malnutrition and food insecurity. It brought together senior government officials and executives from partner organizations, including multilateral institutions, civil society, academia, and donors to discuss the evidence on what works and explore ways to leverage and advance existing efforts.
