2021 Researcher Gathering
On October 27-29, 2021, Innovations for Poverty Action and the Global Poverty Research Lab (GPRL) at Northwestern University hosted the 2021 Annual Researcher Gathering. The three-day event focused on the following themes with multiple concurrent panels and plenary sessions on each day:
Wednesday, October 27th - Consumer Protection Research Forum
Researchers presented and discussed early-stage, in-progress research and working papers addressing key consumer protection risks in financial services: fraud; redress and complaints handling; transparency; consumer choice; and overindebtedness.
Thursday, October 28th - Methods and Measurement Conference
The Methods and Measurement Conference was organized by the IPA-Northwestern Research Methods Initiative to provide a platform to discuss recent advances in measurement, under the Initiative’s three strands: Research Design and Analysis, Fieldwork Implementation and Data Collection, and Questionnaire Design and Measurement.
Friday, October 29th - Financial Inclusion and Social Protection Gathering
Researchers presented and discussed early results and recent working papers on financial inclusion and social inclusion research, including new work on digital credit, wages & household finance, digital finance adoption, and more.
The event was an opportunity for IPA and GPRL to bring together researchers from across the globe to discuss new research, share ideas, and facilitate researcher networking. Additionally, many researchers received valuable feedback on their work. You can read the schedule of presentations below.
