IPA Kenya signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Kenyan Government’s Vision 2030 Program. Vision 2030 is an initiative of the Kenyan government that aims to transform Kenya into a newly industrializing, middle-income country by 2030 through economic, social, and political development.

On May 4, IPA Burkina Faso appeared before the Commission for Reforms of Burkina Faso. The Commission for Reforms is charged with proposing reforms in crucial areas such as electoral law, constitution modification, media and communication regulation, and public finance. They are in the process of composing a report to serve as a road map for the next government. IPA Burkina Faso presented two proposals for public finance reforms and shared results on deworming and teaching at the right level.

The Centro de Informacion y Recursos para el Desarrollo (CIRD), IPA Peru, and J-PAL LAC organized a seminar on the importance of scientific evidence in improving the efficiency and efficacy of social policy. Dylan Ramshaw (Deputy Country Director, IPA Peru) introduced IPA and J-PAL’s mission and work in the region. Juan Hernandez (Policy Manager, J-PAL LAC) presented on the value that evidence can bring to public policy, as well as the role that randomized evaluations can play.

IPA Burkina Faso participated in the first “ Forum International Francophone de l’Évaluation” (FIFE) in Dakar, which focused on public policy evaluation and good governance in francophone Africa. Ahmadou Kandji (Project Coordinator, IPA Burkina Faso) presented an overview of IPA’s work and some findings from evaluations of education programs.

IPA Philippines hosted a two-day training on impact evaluation with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Institute for Labor Studies (ILS). Participants of the training included government employees of various bureaus under DOLE, notably the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE), the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC), Overseas Welfare Administration Authority (OWWA), and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA).
