Before joining IPA as a Research Coordinator, Nusrat worked for five years at the Bangladesh office of Traidcraft Exchange, a UK-based charity fighting poverty through trade. She played a key role in developing the projects portfolio of the newly created Dhaka office and helped raise 4 million Euro to improve the livelihoods of poor farmers, micro-business owners and workers. She started her career as a Business Consultant with a donor-funded project aimed at developing the Small and Medium business sector in Bangladesh. Nusrat has a Masters Degree in Development Practice from the School of International and Public Affairs, Columbia University.
