Bio Info

Basil is a Research Associate for the 4-H study, which evaluates a school-based agricultural education program in the rural areas of Liberia through a large-scale randomized controlled trial. It is a first of its kind study that explores information asymmetry in agricultural production knowledge within households. As an RA at IPA, he works with the principal investigators and the field staff to plan and implement research activities. Basil has a strong academic interest in the economics, micro-sociology, and psychology of primary and secondary school students in developing countries; he hopes to start a PhD in this topic soon. He completed his bachelor’s degree in Economics and Operations Management from Forman Christian College in Lahore, Pakistan. Before joining IPA, he has had the chance to work with various nonprofit and policy research organizations in Pakistan such as the Center for Law and Justice, Poverty Action Lab FCC, and Youth Development Foundation. At these organizations, he has more than 4 years of experience working in both research and program roles on topics like peace, interfaith harmony, hate speech, poverty alleviation, community development, human rights, social justice, and minority rights. Basil hails from a minority community in Pakistan and is strongly passionate about the issues of his community.
