Baba Ali is a Associate Research Manager at IPA Rwanda, having previously served as a Senior Research Associate. In this role, he oversees project financial management, including the creation and monitoring of project budgets, and integration of projects into the financial system to ensure project adherence in the field to general research design, sample selection, data management and analysis, and overall project management. Prior to joining the IPA, he worked at the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) for 10 years as a team leader using information from household surveys to calculate the national cost of living index and analyzing household data to determine the welfare of different portions of the population and identify those living in poverty and in need of assistance. He also worked in the Consumer Price Index, National Accounts, Agriculture, and Economic censuses Units at NISR. He holds a Master's in Policy Economics from Williams College in the U.S. and a Bachelor of Applied Statistics from the University of Rwanda.
