Sylvan Herskowitz is an Economist in the World Bank's Development Impact Evaluation Department (DIME). He completed his PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of California, Berkeley and also studied at Johns Hopkins' School of Advanced International Studies as well as Wesleyan University. Previously he served as a Research Fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute and as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Niger.

Sylvan works on a wide range of topics that include (but are not limited to) financial inclusion and financial management strategies of the poor, agricultural economics, and a number of themes linked to gender (fertility choices, labor participation, and marriage markets).
