Bio Info

Caroline’s research focuses on the effects of international migration on migrant-sending developing countries. She is particularly interested in questions that examine how migration can be used as an effective tool for economic development. Currently, Caroline works primarily in the Philippines, one of the world’s largest senders of migrants. She has gathered numerous large and previously unused datasets in the Philippines for her work. Using these data, Caroline employs microeconometric techniques to analyze the causal effects of labor migration on education and labor market decisions of individuals remaining in the Philippines. Caroline’s previous research examines the effects of economic shocks in destination countries on demand for migrants and their wages.
