On May 20, IPA Peru and J-PAL LAC co-hosted a dissemination event where researchers Erica Field (Duke University) and Ursula Aldana (Instituto de Estudios Peruanos) presented baseline findings from “Leaders in Action,” a program that trains local leaders to become community health volunteers and raise awareness of gender-based violence (GBV) in their villages, to a policy audience at the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP). The event was attended by high-level officials from Peru’s Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations, including the Deputy Minister of Women, Patricia Garcés, and the Deputy Minister of Vulnerable Populations, Cecilia Aldave, as well as by representatives from Peru’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, the UK Embassy and the Gender Group of the International Cooperation in Peru (MESAGEN).
