Dr. Annekathrin Schoofs is a researcher in the “Sustainability and Governance” research unit at RWI-Leibniz Institute for Economic Research in Berlin, Germany. She holds a doctoral degree in economics from the University of Passau. Her research focuses on financial development at the household level, impact evaluation, microfinance, financial education, household bargaining, decision making, and individual preferences. She uses both experimental and non-experimental methods. Some of her recent work includes impact evaluations of financial literacy, housing finance, technology-supported agricultural finance, and youth employment programs as well as testing innovative methods to improve financial access for women. She has conducted her research in several sub-Saharan African countries, including Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda.
