Jaynie Whinnery coordinates the Soapy Water Handwashing Stations program, which is piloting water-efficient, soap-frugal handwashing stations in households, schools, and health centers in peri-urban Kisumu. She brings seven years of volunteer experience working on water supply and sanitation projects in Kenya and El Salvador with Engineers Without Borders - USA. Additionally, in 2013 she was Boren Fellow studying Khmer language and conducting research on the sustainability of biosand water filters in Cambodia. Before attending graduate school she worked as an engineer in the private sector for five years. Jaynie attended Oregon State University and holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering, an MS in Environmental Engineering, and an MPP.
