Education

School enrollment has been steadily increasing around the world in the past decade, but there remains much to be done to improve children’s access to quality education.  The IPA projects listed below seek to understand what works and what doesn't to increase school attendance, educational quality, and achievement in the developing world.

Getting teachers to attend school is sometimes more difficult than getting children there! Can monitoring tied to salary incentive reduce teacher absenteeism in rural schools in India? Will reduced absenteeism increase student achievement? The answer is yes: monitoring made teachers show up, and students learned more too!
